Set within Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, Yu Ting Yuan (御庭院) offers a polished take on Cantonese dining, where craft, design and atmosphere move in quiet harmony.

The Michelin-starred restaurant is housed in a dramatic space designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, with soaring ceilings, expansive glass windows and views across a reflective pool. By night, the room takes on a cinematic glow, with contemporary artworks reflected in the water outside. Inside, deep black walls, Chinese-inspired screens and vivid red amaryllis flowers create a mood that feels both classic and sharply contemporary.

In the kitchen, Chef Tommy Cheung brings experience from Hong Kong, Taiwan and some of the region’s most respected Chinese kitchens. His cooking stays close to Cantonese tradition, but with a modern lightness and occasional Thai accent that give the experience a distinct sense of place.

The restaurant offers Dim Sum Set Lunch, Chef’s Tasting Menu and à la carte options, alongside Champagne pairing from a cellar of more than 600 labels.
The meal opens with a quiet ritual: a warm cup of oolong tea, aromatic and gently cleansing, setting the pace for what follows.

A small welcome bite brings brightness to the table — pomegranate, sweet and tart, alongside guava marinated with preserved plum, crisp, refreshing and lightly savoury.
For the dim sum, two condiments are placed at the centre of the experience. The first is a deeply savoury XO sauce, layered with dried scallop and Yunnan ham. The second, a Shanghai-style chilli paste, brings a measured heat and fragrance, designed to sharpen each delicate parcel without overpowering it.

'Lobster and Seafood Dumpling'

'Caviar Topped Prawn Dumpling'
We began with a line-up of dim sum that set the tone for the meal: refined, precise and generous in detail. The Lobster and Seafood Dumpling was delicate yet full-flavoured, while the Caviar Topped Prawn Dumpling delivered the familiar pleasure of translucent skin and sweet, springy prawn.

The Fish Dumplings with Fermented Cabbage brought a more distinctive note, with gentle acidity adding lift to the seafood.

The Steamed Rice Roll with Crispy Prawns was one of the table’s early favourites — soft, silky rice noodle wrapped around a crisp centre, finished with savoury sauce.

'The Preparation'

The Traditional Peking Duck'
'Wok-Fried Minced Duck'
The Traditional Peking Duck arrived with all the expected ceremony. The skin was crisp and glossy, served with fine pancakes and classic condiments. For the second course, the duck returned as Wok-Fried Minced Duck in Lettuce Cups, a fresh, textural follow-up that balanced richness with crunch.

'Hokkaido Pork with Honey Sauce'

'Roasted Crispy Pork Belly'
The barbecue selection continued with Hokkaido Pork with Honey Sauce, tender and lightly sweet, followed by Roasted Crispy Pork Belly with Mustard, where the sharpness of mustard cut neatly through the richness of the pork.

The Fried Rice with Shrimp, Scallops and Crispy Garlic was simple in appearance but beautifully executed. Each grain carried a subtle wok aroma, with sweet seafood and crisp garlic adding both depth and texture.

The Double-Boiled Fish Maw with Matsutake Mushrooms offered a slower, more comforting moment in the meal — warm, delicate and quietly luxurious.

Dessert came in the form of Chilled Mango and Sago Cream with Pomelo, served in a handmade mango-shaped presentation. It was bright, fresh and gently sweet, with pomelo adding a clean citrus finish.

The meal closed with petit fours: soft mochi, goji berry and chrysanthemum jelly, and
a delicate mango puff — a graceful final touch to an elegant Cantonese experience.
