The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) orchestrated "The Journey of Local Co-creation," an exclusive experience showcasing cultural tourism products. This event expanded on the triumph of the Local Co-creation project, shining a spotlight on two vital communities: the Ban Sawathi Community in Khon Kaen Province and the Ban Nai Nang Tourism Community in Krabi Province. The opening ceremony was led by Ms Den Duen Luengcheng, Director of Tourism Products at TAT, alongside Mr Jakkraphong Chinkratok, CEO of Find Folk Co., Ltd., and Ms Alisara Siwayatorn, CEO of Sivatel Hotel, Bangkok, who engaged in a discussion at the Sivatel Hotel, Bangkok.
Ms Den Duen Luengcheng, Director of Tourism Products at TAT, shared that The Journey of Local Co-creation represents a beautiful collaboration between the public and private sectors, as well as local stakeholders, resulting in a showcase of cultural tourism products. This initiative is an extension of the successful Local Co-creation project, which has added value to community tourism products and services by aligning them with the local context and the behaviour of tourists. In 2024, TAT aims to further enhance this initiative by inviting experts to share knowledge on food and creative tourism. The theme "Promoting Community-style Cuisine" embodies the idea of creating experiences through taste and integrating sustainability. TAT showcased the work of two inspiring communities: Ban Sawathi Community in Khon Kaen Province and Ban Nai Nang Tourism Community in Krabi Province.
TAT envisions this project as a catalyst for uplifting community products and services, generating added economic value, fostering travel incentives, and spreading benefits across the grassroots economy and all relevant sectors. The event showcased a forum where Mr Jakkraphong Chinkratok, CEO of Find Folk Co., Ltd., alongside food experts from Kaen Restaurant and community representatives, shared their insights on Adding Value to Tourism Products (Local Co-creation) and presented products and services from Ban Nai Nang in Krabi Province and Ban Sawathi in Khon Kaen Province.
Ms. Anyarin Sapsimanee, Personal Assistant of the CEO of Sivatel Hotel in Bangkok, passionately discussed Sustainability Concepts and Setting Zero Waste Goals for Entrepreneurs in the Tourism Industry. She also shared valuable insights on creating value by telling stories through food. The event featured a hands-on workshop showcasing food and beverage menus from various communities, highlighting the Khao Kiap Koi Pla Duk Canape from Ban Sawathi Community in Khon Kaen Province and Mojito Jelly from Ban Nai Nang in Krabi Province. Attendees savoured afternoon tea and snacks from Divana Signature Cafe, followed by an exclusive Chef's Table meal prepared by Chef Phrik Phet – Thitiphan Chongyingcharoen, a renowned chef and food stylist from the Hell's Kitchen program.
The event was a celebration of local ingredients, showcasing their potential to elevate dining experiences. It emphasised the importance of supporting sustainable businesses and promoting environmental responsibility. The Sivatel Hotel, with its commitment to sustainability and zero-waste practices, provided the perfect setting for this inspiring gathering.
The Local Co-creation project stands as a beacon of innovation and collaboration, showcasing the Tourism Authority of Thailand's commitment to designing and testing prototype tourism products and services in close partnership with local communities and stakeholders. Through trial runs of tourism experiences and sharing valuable insights, TAT aims to continuously promote and market five communities from five regions, paving the way for sustainable and enriching tourism experiences.
