Tucked inside Sukhumvit 31 in the heart of the bustling Asok - Prom Phong Area lies a luxury upmarket hotel, Public House Hotel, inspired to draw creative minds, artists, entrepreneurs, and curious souls worldwide converge.
Public House is a unique space that caters to the needs of guests while showcasing the vibrant urban culture of the neighbourhood. As the COVID-19 pandemic blurred the lines between various spaces, the owner, Paul Sachdev, saw an opportunity to create a flexible and adaptable space that could serve as an office, stage, or studio. The hotel's design and amenities reflect this vision, and guests can enjoy a safe and comfortable stay while experiencing the local culture both inside and outside the hotel.
Upon entering the hotel lobby, Chomp was greeted by the friendly staff, who welcomed us with their warm and amiable demeanour.
During our stay, we were fortunate enough to occupy the Grand Deluxe Room, which boasts an incredibly spacious 34-square-meter area. The room's highlights are undoubtedly the reading-by-the-window and stunning day-bed corners offering unparalleled city views.
Additionally, the room is outfitted with cutting-edge technology, including a circular nightstand that functions as both a speaker and a wireless smartphone charger. However, it's worth noting that each room only has one nightstand, meaning that if you're travelling with a companion, you may find yourselves competing for its use.
Public House takes pride in pioneering the latest trends in the hospitality industry within the region. The owners acknowledge the increasing significance of sustainability and eco-friendliness, and ever since this establishment, they have been dedicated to being a part of this cause. This hotel has been designed with a primary emphasis on environmental responsibility, guaranteeing that guests can experience a lavish stay while reducing their ecological impact.
We explored the room and noticed that there was no physical map of the neighbourhood, menu, or programme flyer on the table or nightstand, which is typically provided by most hotels. Instead, we found QR codes on the smart TV screen that could be scanned with smart devices to access this information and more.
While exploring the hotel, we were pleased to discover that they serve NORDAG, a sustainable water option for guests. Additionally, we were amazed by the hotel's initiatives to find a solution to handle food waste efficiently.
The seamless restaurant, Fest, situated close to the hotel lobby, provides an open-kitchen experience. Its menu boasts appetising grilled and comfort food dishes, mainly from locally sourced ingredients. However, some dishes use imported ingredients, like red Sicilian prawns and Australian mussels, to enhance their unique flavours. It is fascinating to see how these ingredients and dishes are influenced by the regions they come from, especially the imported ones. It is quite intriguing for Chomp to experience how restaurants work with their crafts and where environments or sustainability are factored in.
Just a short walk from Fest lies the hotel's Open Bar, a haven for cocktail enthusiasts. The bar boasts an impressive selection of drinks, including wine and cocktails, all at affordable prices. If you're in the mood for some weekend excitement, the bar has live music and a DJ every Friday and Saturday from 20:00 to 22:00. It's an excellent opportunity to unwind and have some fun with friends or family.
Aside from Fest, guests can also dine at The Moon, located on the top of the hotel. They can indulge in food or drinks while enjoying the breathtaking view of Bangkok by the jacuzzi. It would be wise to pack a bathing suit for this occasion.
The food and beverage outlets are open from 7:30 to 22:00, except for Fridays and Saturdays, when they close at 23:00.
As mentioned earlier, Public House Hotel has a goal of attracting creative individuals. The hotel provides a co-working area and a podcast studio to support this objective. People such as digital nomads and podcasters can reserve the space and studio according to their needs, and both hotel guests and non-hotel guests are welcome to use these amenities.
Public House Hotel is more than just a place to stay; it's a community that encourages a sense of camaraderie and belonging. It's the perfect starting point for those who want to experience new adventures and authentic encounters. Visitors worldwide come together here, sharing a passion for exploration, creativity, and cultural immersion.
