Returning to  Wonder House Chanthaburi feels less like discovering a new bar and more like stepping back into a place that quietly stays with you. Tucked away in the heart of this riverside province, the speakeasy continues to stand apart—unpretentious yet refined, intimate yet full of character. On a second visit, its charm reveals itself more deeply, not through novelty, but through consistency, craft, and care.

At the centre of Wonder House is its founder, Parkornput Changprasert, or Boom, whose journey in mixology and flair bartending began in Bangkok before leading him home. Together with his wife, Boom has shaped Wonder House into more than a cocktail bar—it is a personal expression of his experience, grounded in local roots and elevated by professional precision. Each drink reflects his philosophy: premium spirits, thoughtful technique, and an unmistakable sense of place.

The space itself grows warmer with familiarity. Set within a wooden house, Wonder House balances vintage soul with contemporary elegance. Soft lighting, aged timber, and curated details create an atmosphere that feels calm and inviting, encouraging guests to slow down and stay a little longer. Whether settling into a quiet corner or joining the gentle hum of conversation, the ambience adapts effortlessly to the mood of the evening.

What truly defines Wonder House, however, is its cocktail programme. On a return visit, the menu feels even more intentional—an inspired dialogue between classic foundations and inventive flavour pairings. Boom’s use of local ingredients and house-made syrups adds depth and authenticity, allowing each cocktail to express the character of Chanthaburi in subtle, memorable ways.

North Wind debuts as a comforting cocktail that feels like a cool breeze at dusk. Vodka, St-Germain, and Lillet Blanc form a delicate floral base, layered with lychee milk for gentle sweetness and a subtle richness from peanut butter. Finished with Mediterranean tonic and crowned with a winter berry foam, the drink is silky and aromatic—creamy, lightly nutty, with hints of coconut, jasmine, and mixed berries lingering on the palate.

 

Pandan & Santol balances an elegant interplay of sweet, salty, and herbal notes. Pandan-infused gin and Maraschino create a fragrant backbone, while pickled santol introduces a gentle salinity that lifts the drink beautifully. Pineapple shrub and honey lemon add brightness, evoking the soothing, nostalgic character of chrysanthemum tea. The flavours remain clear and composed from start to finish, never dropping, making it both refreshing and contemplative.


 

Basil & Pineapple offers a vibrant and aromatic cocktail built on rum infused with fresh basil. Galliano Vanilla and house-made pineapple herb cordial bring warmth and depth, while lime keeps everything crisp and focused. Fresh-pressed pineapple juice is clarified to a jewel-like clarity, topped with an exceptionally soft foam. Subtle notes of rosemary, pepper, and honey emerge on the nose, lingering throughout the sip. Served in a weighty glass, this drink feels as refined as it tastes.

 

Cheese & Onion is a bold, savoury-forward creation for the adventurous palate. Gin infused with parmesan cheese meets dry vermouth and honey lemon, rounded with coconut and white vinegar for a profile reminiscent of a refined Bee’s Knees—unexpected yet harmonious. Finished with a light cheese and onion foam, the drink delivers umami depth with a clean, elegant structure.

 

Butter Truffle & Corn is deep, indulgent, and complex. Cognac butter truffle and rum cacao create a rich foundation, layered with corn-infused sweet vermouth and finished with chocolate bitters. Dark chocolate notes (around 80%) bring a subtle acidity, balanced by buttery truffle, cacao, and natural corn sweetness. A contemplative cocktail with a luxurious, lingering finish.

  Sip is a smooth, quietly expressive cocktail built around Jamaican rum and ripe banana. Cointreau and dry vermouth add balance and structure, while roselle pandan cordial introduces a gentle floral tang. Garnished with dried banana, this drink is mellow yet aromatic—designed for slow sipping and easy conversation.


 

Apple & Gochujang is bright, daring, and layered. Gin and dry vermouth provide a crisp base, while apple and pomelo blend seamlessly with gochujang jasmine for a complex twist. The result is a dynamic profile that opens with freshness, followed by subtle heat and a spicy finish. Clear lemon sharpens the edges, leaving a clean yet memorable aftertaste.
