Nestled at the heart of the prestigious Macau waterfront, Mandarin Oriental Macau symbolises elegance and sophistication. With stunning views of Nam Van Lake, the Macau Tower, and the South China Sea, this exclusive hotel provides a luxurious urban retreat. A glamorous and contemporary design, outstanding restaurants, and exceptional service combine effortlessly to create an unforgettable experience for those who seek nothing but the finest.
Chomp travelled to Macau and stayed at Mandarin Oriental Macau. Although Macau is renowned as one of the world's exclusive gambling destinations, Mandarin Oriental Macau doesn't have one. Unlike other hotels with casinos, which usually require guests to walk through or past noisy and dimly lit gambling areas to reach their rooms, Mandarin Oriental prioritise a different ambience and experience.
Upon entering the hotel lobby, guests are immediately welcomed by a breathtakingly grandiose salon. The high ceilings, decorated with creamy golden-beige marble, create an air of luxury and sophistication. The sizeable transparent glass windows provide an abundance of natural light, illuminating the space and highlighting its intricate details. The salon's lavish decor, combined with the warmth and comfort it exudes, creates an unforgettable experience for guests.
The front desk team, led by Director of Front Office Sutthichai Kaewgun, who recently repositioned from Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, is exceptionally professional and courteous. Their behaviour is consistently polite, respectful, and considerate towards customers, creating a positive and welcoming environment. Their demeanour reflects highly on the values of the hotel. Their commitment to providing excellent service is impressive.
During the trip, Chomp stayed at the Deluxe Bay View Room. After entering the room, one is immediately struck by its impressive spaciousness, allowing guests to move freely without feeling cramped. The cleverly designed layout, with just the right amount of space between the desk and the bed, as well as between the bed and the living corner, divides the room without needing any partitions or dividers. The result is a room that feels welcoming and comfortable yet still manages to provide a sense of luxury and indulgence. Guests staying in the West wing will enjoy stunning views of the Macau Tower, Nam Wan Lake, and Praia Grande Bay through the giant floor-to-ceiling window.
The guest bathroom is thoughtfully designed to provide maximum comfort and convenience, ensuring that guests feel pampered and relaxed throughout their stay.
The bathtub is strategically placed next to the window, offering a picturesque view of the surroundings. This allows guests to soak in a warm bubble bath while taking in the breathtaking scenery. The transparent glass shower booth is equally impressive, featuring a unique double rainshower head system that provides an unparalleled showering experience. In addition to the rainshower heads, there is also a handheld shower head catering to guests' individual shower preferences. Across from the booth is a small smart TV screen, in addition to the larger TV in the bedroom. This compact-sized TV can entertain or update guests with the latest news.
The restroom is partitioned with walls and a door to provide guests privacy while using it. While it does not have a bidet, the placement and design of the toilet seat and toilet paper holder are practical and functional. Despite being a small cubicle, it does not give off a claustrophobic feel.
The room boasts a luxurious walking wardrobe, complete with ample storage space for clothing, shoes, and accessories. The closet features plenty of shelves, rods, and drawers to keep your wardrobe organised and easily accessible. The walking space within the wardrobe allows you to comfortably browse through your outfits as you plan your perfect look.
