On the evening of 5th June 2024, the highly anticipated The World's 50 Best Restaurants list was revealed at a dazzling live awards ceremony at the renowned Wynn Las Vegas. The glitzy neon lights of Las Vegas provided a striking backdrop as top chefs, restaurateurs, and icons from the global gastronomy industry, representing 26 territories spanning five continents, came together to celebrate and acknowledge the extraordinary culinary talent showcased in The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2024.
Disfrutar, a restaurant in Barcelona run by the skilled chef trio of Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch, and Mateu Casañas, has been honoured as The World's Best Restaurant and The Best Restaurant in Europe in 2024, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna. This acclaimed restaurant offers a tasting menu that showcases a Mediterranean identity with avant-garde flavours, subverting traditional fine dining with its modern techniques and beautiful ingredients. In the 2023 rankings, Disfrutar was ranked at No. 2, and it has now succeeded the 2023 winner, Central in Lima, as The World's Best Restaurant.
The top 5 restaurants following Disfrutar in this year's rankings are Asador Etxebarri in Atxondo, Bizkaia at No. 2, Table by Bruno Verjus in Paris at No. 3, Diverxo in Madrid at No.4 and Maido in Lima at No.5.
The list revealed the top 12 Asian restaurants that secured a place in The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2024.

The World's 50 Best Restaurants also awards individual talents, and this year, The World's Best Female Chef is Janaína Torres from No.27 A Casa do Porco in her hometown of São Paulo.
The Champions of Change 2024 award has been given to Brazilian chef João Diamante. He is the founder of Diamantes na Cozinha (Diamonds in the Kitchen) in Rio de Janeiro, where he helps people from vulnerable backgrounds learn culinary and business skills. This empowers them to overcome poverty and pursue careers in gastronomy. The award also recognises Caroline Caporossi and Jessica Rosval, who founded Roots, a social enterprise restaurant Modena in Italy with a paid Culinary Training Programme for migrant women who are passionate about food in.
Kato in Los Angeles has snatched the Resy One To Watch Award for 2024 thanks to Taiwanese-American chef Jonathan Yao's innovative interpretation of the modern Asian-American experience through cuisine.
Gin Mare Art of Hospitality Award 2024 goes to No.18 Plénitude, on the first floor of the exclusive Cheval Blanc Hotel on the banks of the River Seine in Paris, for its distinctly down-to-earth hospitality style.
Mitsuharu' Micha' Tsumura, the chef-owner of No.5 Maido in Lima, has won the Estrella Damm Chefs' Choice Award 2024, the only award to be voted for by his peers, in light of his dedication to putting Peru onto the world culinary stage, evidenced by Maido's position as No.1 on Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list in 2023.
Australian chef and restaurateur Neil Perry – whose restaurant portfolio has included the legendary Rockpool Bar & Grill, Rosetta and Spice Temple, as well as his latest venture, Margaret – has enjoyed a career spanning more than 45 years is now rewarded with the Woodford Reserve Icon Award. Perry is arguably his country's most influential chef, known for his visionary interpretations of Modern Australian and Asian cuisines.
No. 43 Nobelhart & Schmutzig in Berlin has won the Sustainable Restaurant Award 2024 for sourcing its ingredients within 250km of Berlin's city limits and for providing staff with a secure, inclusive, and safe working environment.
Nina Métayer, the founder of an online patisserie Délicatisserie, was named The World's Best Pastry Chef 2024, sponsored by Sosa. Métayer's sculptural creations have garnered attention worldwide, and her beautiful work inspires a new generation of pastry chefs.
The Beronia World's Best Sommelier Award for 2024 has been awarded to sommelier Pablo Rivero of Don Julio in Buenos Aires. Rivero is widely considered the leading expert in wine in Argentina and has become an influential figure those in the trade across Latin America — and the world — look up to.
